Patricia Briest, RN, MS, FNP-BC, C.A.S. Nursing Education
Patricia Briest, RN, MS, FNP-BC, C.A.S. Nursing Education, is the Nurse Manager for Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Wellness and Outpatient Diabetes Management at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. In this role, she is able to engage in patient education activates as well manage the department. Under the “wellness” umbrella, she manages the NYS Department of Health’s Tobacco Cessation Center at St. Joseph’s, a role she has held since its inception, and also manages the TakeShape for Life Weight Management Program. Patt joined St. Joseph’s in 1999, managing the Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Programs.
Prior to St. Joseph’s, Patt had more than 35 years of experience in healthcare in a diverse array of experiences. From working at Crouse Hospital in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to serving as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner for a private practice and school district, Patt has worked with the staff and management of every hospital in the Central New York catchment area of Onondaga, Oswego, and Cayuga counties.
Patt graduated from the Crouse School of Nursing in 1972, obtained her Baccalaureate Degree in Science of Nursing from SUNY Utica Rome in 1986, received her Nurse Practitioner Education at Community General’s NP program in 1987, and obtained a Master’s in Nursing from SUNY Upstate University College of Nursing in 1999. Additionally, she has a Certificate of Advanced Study in Nursing Education, which she earned in 2009 from Upstate University College of Nursing. Patt is an ANCC Board certified family nurse practitioner.
