Community Benefit and the Northside

As I drove to our campus this past Saturday, on my way to the opening of the new Kinney Drugs location at the corner of Butternut and Townsend streets, I was thrilled with the economic development progress that has been made on the Northside of our City.

Celebrating Great Leaders

This week we celebrate two great leaders.   St. Marianne Cope, whose birthday is this coming Friday, is our founder and the guiding force behind our mission. She dedicated her life to speaking out for those not served by health care: those with alcoholism, leprosy, and in poverty. She wrote and called to action those who served in leadership positions to respond with care and kindness. She was rooted in her faith, yet had a deep conviction to go wherever she was called. One can only imagine the inner strength that it took for her to journey to Hawaii in the late 1800's.

A Year in Review and Thanks!

As I look back at 2014, I am so proud and so impressed by what our teams have accomplished. This past year we cared for more patients, marked two major milestones with the launch of the new SJLinked electronic health record system and opening of the new Christina Nappi Surgical Tower, and continued our commitment to improve quality and patient satisfaction. We successfully passed CMS-DOH and DNV surveys for accreditation, and were awarded Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. We also supported access to care through our community-based centers, including the renovated Primary Care Center-West, our participation in the Central New York Care Collaborative, and the growth of St. Joseph’s Physicians primary care and
