TeamSTEPPS Builds Teamwork and Focus on Patient Safety

Last week I had the chance to attend a “TeamSTEPPS” training program taught by Frank Panzetta (our Director of Employee Experience) and Diane McDermott (Clinical Nurse Specialist). Frank, Diane and other colleagues have trained thousands of employees and physicians at St. Joseph’s in the use of these communications tools over the past year.

Hawaii Officially Establishes Day to Honor St. Marianne Cope

Statement Regarding CMS/DOH Complaint Against St. Joseph’s

In late December, St. Joseph’s administrative leadership team became aware of an incident that involved inappropriate behavior by a physician in our operating rooms. This behavior involved actions and language which were offensive and did not uphold our mission of compassionate and reverent care.

Rounding: Seeing through Different Lenses

The typical week these days includes too much email, lots of mail and many calls. All things that while important, only allow you to see through very limited lenses and keeps us behind a desk. I took a few hours this past weekend to come in on a Saturday afternoon to do rounding.
