Knee and Shoulder Injuries

Most injuries are minor sprains/strains/contusions of the knee that can be simply treated with rest, ice, compression, elevation, (RICE) and anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen, motrin, aleve, etc). However, some injuries are more severe resulting in structural damage to the knee – including ligament, tendon, and meniscal injuries.

Rotator Cuff Surgery: Be Patient - You’ll Get There!

The rotator cuff is a series of four tendons that attach to the ball part of your shoulder. The muscles of the rotator cuff originate on your shoulder blade. A healthy rotator cuff is essential for a healthy shoulder. When there is a tear in the rotator cuff you can have tremendous pain with the simplest of movements such as reaching for a cup of coffee, putting dishes away, reaching behind your back, etc.

Rotator Cuff Tears

Rotator cuff tears are among the most commonly encountered disorders of the shoulder. They can be debilitating and difficult to treat. Chronic rotator cuff tears are common and with the aging population the incidence of new tears continues to rise. More than 50% of individuals older than 60 years have at least a partial rotator cuff tear and full thickness tears are found in almost half of individuals older than 80 years.
