Program Purpose/Description

The St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center/ St. John Fisher College Wegman’s School of Pharmacy PGY1 Residency Program is designed to train select, highly motivated and highly qualified pharmacists and prepare them to provide patient centered pharmaceutical care as a clinical pharmacist in acute care medicine.  Academic educational skills are taught and the residents will complete a teaching certificate program through St. John Fisher College.   Fundamental skill development will be provided for residents as preparation for continuation onto PGY2 residency or fellowship in a specialty area of pharmacy practice and prepare them for future faculty/preceptor positions. Residents will acquire professional leadership skills and develop lifelong learning skills that will produce and maintain career satisfaction.

The residency program adheres to the standards described in the criteria: ASHP Statement on Accreditation of Pharmacy Residencies and ASHP Accrediting Standard for Residency Training in Pharmacy Practice.
