The program consists of required training in specific aspects of acute patient-care and pharmacy practice. It is customized to the needs of the individual resident with at least two months of elective opportunities. These core and elective rotations will provide the basic foundation for quality clinical practice and educational instruction.
The program is primarily clinical in nature with exposure to centralized and decentralized pharmacy practice, sterile product preparation, and computer/robot-assisted distribution systems.
The pharmacy resident’s required areas of training include internal and critical care medicine, infectious diseases, drug information, academic instruction/teaching certification, pharmacy administrative leadership, and emergency medicine. The resident may elect additional training with services such as anticoagulation, geriatrics, informatics, ambulatory care and other areas of hospital pharmacy practice.
