Early Intervention

Early Intervention is a program of medically supervised exercise, group education and individual counseling to encourage lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of heart disease and enhance health and well-being.

The Early Intervention Program is designed for people who have one of more of the following risk factors for heart disease:

  • diabetes
  • obesity
  • high cholesterol
  • peripheral vascular disease
  • family history of heart disease
  • hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • cigarette smoking
  • sedentary lifestyle

If you are at risk for heart disease, you may benefit from the Early Intervention Program. Designed to help prevent the more serious consequences of heart disease, the program can help people who have early warning signs of heart disease, including diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or high cholesterol levels.

After medical screening, the cardiac rehabilitation team will prescribe a program of medically supervised exercise designed especially for you.

Call St. Joseph's Cardiac Rehabilitation at 315-458-7171 for more information or to schedule a brief health risk assessment and tour of the facility. Physician approval is required. There is no charge for the initial assessment.

For more information including costs of the program, please call 315-458-7171.

The cost of preventative programs is usually not covered by most insurance plans, but we recommend that you contact your insurance company.
