Heritage Family Medicine at Fayetteville

Dr. Dawn Brink-Cymerman Dr. Dawn Brink-Cymerman

Dr. Dawn Brink-Cymerman sees patients in the Heritage Fayetteville office and Heritage Cazenovia office. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in medical science from Alderson-Broaddus College in West Virginia and practiced as a physician assistant in the Upstate New York area for nearly 20 years. She left that profession to return to medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, and completed her training at St. Joseph's Family Medicine Residency in Syracuse. Dr. Brink-Cymerman is now a faculty member of that residency program. She also continues to serve as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves.


Dr. Gerry Edwards Dr. Gerry Edwards

Dr. Gerry Edwards lives in Cazenovia and enjoys seeing patients in his hometown. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from LeMoyne College and his Doctorate of Medicine from SUNY Health Science Center. He completed his residency at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, where he was chief resident. He is a member of St. Joseph's Medical Education faculty and is an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Prior to earning his medical degree, Dr. Edwards founded and directed the Center for Holistic Living in Syracuse and counseled people in stress management.


Dr. Stephen D. Hoag Dr. Stephen D. Hoag

Dr. Stephen Hoag sees patients at our Fayetteville location. He recently finished his active duty time in the U.S. Navy and is now a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Most recently, he served as a staff family physician at the Naval Hospital Camp Lejuene in Jacksonville, NC. During this time he spent seven months with the U.S. Marine Corps surgical team in Iraq. He grew up in the Southern Tier of New York and attended SUNY Binghamton for his undergraduate degree. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Md., and did his residency in family medicine at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. Dr. Hoag enjoys the full scope of family medicine, including obstetrical care. He also serves as a member of St. Joseph's Medical Education faculty.


Dr. Lynne Humphrey Dr. Lynne Humphrey

Dr. Lynne Humphrey sees patients at the Fayetteville office and most recently worked at Northeast Family Physicians in Fayetteville. She is a member of the St. Joseph’s Medical Education faculty. Dr. Humphrey received her Doctorate of Medicine from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completed her family practice residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Virginia.


Dr. Michael Kernan Dr. Michael Kernan

Dr. Michael Kernan sees patients in our office in Fayetteville. Dr Kernan is Vice Chairman of the Family Medicine Department at St. Joseph's Hospital and a member of St. Joseph's Medical Education Faculty. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Kernan is also a team physician for Syracuse University Athletics. He is a graduate of Colorado State University with a bachelor's degree. He received a Master of Science degree is medical biology from Long Island University and his Doctorate of Medicine from University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. Kernan completed his family practice residency at St. Joseph's Hospital and specializes in sports medicine. He is a member of the Toggenburg Mountain Ski Patrol. Dr. Kernan is married and is the father of five children.


Dr. Jennifer McCaul Dr. Jennifer McCaul

Dr. Jennifer McCaul sees patients at the Fayetteville office. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology with honors from Fordham University and her Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. McCaul completed her residency in family practice and obstetrics at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, where she was chief resident. She is a member of St. Joseph's Medical Education faculty and a team physician for Syracuse University Athletics. Dr. McCaul enjoys all aspects of family medicine but has a special interest in obstetrics and women's health.


Dr. Kristen McNamara Dr. Kristen McNamara

Dr. Kristen McNamara sees patients at the Fayetteville office. Upon graduating from Albany Medical College in 2004, Dr. McNamara fulfilled her family practice residency at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center where she was chief resident and completed the obstetrics track. She has been with Heritage Family Medicine since 2007. Dr. McNamara received her Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude from Siena College. Dr. McNamara also serves as a member of St. Joseph's Medical Education faculty.


Dr. Betsy McNany Dr. Betsy McNany

Dr. Betsy McNany sees patients at our Fayetteville location. She spent five years as a high school science teacher before starting her medical degree at Upstate Medical University, where she was recognized with the 2004 Student Clinician Award. Dr. McNany completed her residency in family medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in November of 2008. She graduated from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont in 1995. She also took coursework in Denver, Colorado at the University of Colorado, Metropolitan State College, and Denver University prior to beginning her studies at Upstate. She graduated from Upstate in August 2005. Dr. McNany also serves as a member of St. Joseph's Medical Education faculty.


Dr. Larry Novak Dr. Larry Novak

Dr. Larry Novak sees patients in our Fayetteville office. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Buffalo and received his Doctorate of Medicine from Albany Medical College. Dr. Novak completed his family practice residency at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore. He is a member of St. Joseph's Medical Education faculty.


Dr. John P. O'Brien Dr. John P. O'Brien

Dr. John P. O'Brien sees patients at our Cazenovia location. He was a National Merit Scholar and graduated from St. Joseph's Family Medicine Residency, receiving the Resident Teaching Award. He earned his doctorate of medicine from SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2004 and was given the Paul Palmer/Ernest Carhart Award. He serves as a member of St. Joseph's Medical Education faculty.


Dr. Matthew Picone Dr. Matthew Picone

Dr. Matthew Picone meets with patients at the Fayetteville office. He is a member of St. Joseph's Medical Education faculty and is an assistant professor teaching practice of medicine courses in the Department of Family Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Picone earned his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from SUNY Brockport and his Doctor of Medicine from New York Medical College in Valhalla. He also received a Master of Medical Education degree from the USC School of Medicine. Dr. Picone completed his family practice residency at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Prior to beginning his career in medicine, Dr. Picone was a chef. 


Dr. Sandra Sulik Dr. Sandra Sulik

Dr. Sandra Sulik practices at the Fayetteville office and is President of the St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center Medical Staff. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Virginia, as well as a Master of Science in physiology and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Georgetown University. Dr. Sulik completed her family practice residency at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. She is an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at SUNY Health Science Center. Dr. Sulik specializes in obstetrics and women's health issues.


Dr. James Tucker Dr. James Tucker

Dr. James Tucker is the director of medical education and the family medicine residency at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center and practices at our Fayetteville location. He is a professor of family medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. Tucker received his Doctor of Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine in 1973 and completed his family practice residency in the United States Air Force. He was board certified in Family Medicine in 1976 and has been recertified five times. He is a medical team physician for Syracuse University Athletics.

Hours: Our physicians accept appointments Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and are available on Saturdays from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. for urgent health care needs.
