St. Joseph’s Honors Donor Families in Donate Life Rose Ceremony

SYRACUSE – St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center will host the families of organ and tissue donors for the third annual Donate Life Rose Ceremony on Friday, December 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the DeFuria Room, off the hospital’s main lobby. During the event, the families will write personalized messages for the Donate Life’s 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade Float in Pasadena, Calif. Donate Life will attach these messages to vials holding the roses.

“Doctors and nurses are one link in the chain, but we need donors to truly save lives,” said AnneMarie Czyz, MS, RN, vice president for clinical services. “We’re proud that we can recognize some of our past donors with this great honor.”

St. Joseph’s joins hospitals, transplant centers, funeral homes and individuals from 34 states and the Dominican Republic who will contribute to the Donate Life float. Donate Life plans to include 72 “floragraph” portraits of deceased donors. Other individuals and organizations may dedicate roses to the Donate Life Rose Parade float via its website at http://www.donatelifefloat.org/prod/components/family_circle/join.html.
