St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center Ambulatory Practices Get A New Name: St. Joseph’s Physicians

SYRACUSE—St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center today announced plans to rebrand its ambulatory practices (St. Joseph’s Physicians Health and St. Joseph’s Medical, P.C.) under a new, unified name: St. Joseph’s Physicians

The former North Medical practices are the first group to adopt the new name. This includes North Medical Family Physicians, North Medical Urgent Care, and Women’s Health. The rebranding and name change takes effect at the practice’s office locations in the North (Liverpool) and Northeast (Fayetteville) Medical Centers.

“Aligning the ambulatory practices under the new ‘St. Joseph’s Physicians’ name umbrella leverages the strength of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center brand and supports a consistent identity and unified message to patients,” said Kathryn Ruscitto, St. Joseph’s president and CEO.

Current plans call for the ambulatory practices affiliated with St. Joseph’s Physicians Health—Baldwinsville Family Medical Care, Heritage Family Medicine, and Syracuse Internist Associates—to transition to the new identity and adopt the St. Joseph’s Physicians name in the first quarter of 2014, Ruscitto said.

The new name “highlights and recognizes the strength, values, and traditions of these community-based ambulatory care practices, whose physicians are widely recognized for compassionate, patient-focused care, delivered in easily-accessible settings, and within the framework of a comprehensive health care system,” said Fred Letourneau, senior vice president for St. Joseph’s Physician Enterprise. “The name also emphasizes the strength of the physicians themselves who are affiliated with those practices; they are among the region’s most highly-credentialed health care professionals.”

St. Joseph’s initially acquired St. Joseph’s Medical P.C. in 2011 (when it was the former North Medical P.C.). An innovative concept at its founding, North Medical created significant growth and patient satisfaction, which resulted in the practice becoming the leading comprehensive primary care practice in Central New York.
