SYRACUSE, N.Y.— St. Joseph’s Physicians is pleased to announce Marshall Mahon, MD, has joined St. Joseph’s Health Hospital as a Hospitalist. A board-certified physician, Dr. Mahon completed his residency at St. Joseph’s Health where he will continue to practice.

As a hospitalist, Dr. Mahon cares for patients from the time they enter the hospital, to the time they’re discharged. He handles diagnosis, treatment, and coordination of care of needed specialists. Providing this level of continuity in patient care is a natural transition for Dr. Mahon who enjoyed the broad scope of practice in Family Medicine.

“During my residency at St. Joseph's, I collaborated with many great physicians who helped me find where I best fit in this field and that is working in the hospital,” said Dr. Mahon. “We have a great team here and I look forward to continuing to be a part of it.”

Dr. Mahon received his Doctorate of Medicine from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Buffalo receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and chemistry following a year at Monroe Community College. While attending SUNY Upstate, Mahon served as a teaching assistant helping second-year medical students develop clinical skills.

“There are many people to thank for getting me to this point in my life,” Dr. Mahon added. “In particular, I want to thank my mother and grandmother for all their support in getting me to where I am today.”

In his free time, Dr. Mahon enjoys reading old books, making hot sauces and good science fiction.
