As we begin the month of March, which is observed as National Nutrition Month, it is crucial to recognize the profound impact that nutrition has on our overall health and well-being. This month-long observance serves as a reminder to make informed food choices and practice mindful eating habits, which can lead to healthier lifestyles.
At St. Joseph's Health, we strongly believe in the power of food as medicine. Whether you're a patient on the path to recovery, a caregiver looking to support your loved ones, or someone passionate about enhancing your health, we encourage you to explore new ways to implement healthy practices this month.

Let's make choices that make us feel good and contribute to our collective well-being. Throughout March, we are proud to advocate for choices that nourish the body and contribute to a sense of vitality and healing.

About St. Joseph's Health Hospital Dietitians
St. Joseph's Health Hospital has seven inpatient registered dietitians. Each team member has several years of experience or more, with half having advanced credentials in nutrition support. Every dietitian is assigned to a few inpatient floors and attends rounds each morning to support patients they will see that day.
The dietitians' primary responsibility is to assess patients and determine if they have a nutrition diagnosis that can be addressed during their stay. They identify malnutrition criteria, nutrient deficiencies, education needs, nutrition support needs and more. If patients have additional nutritional needs, appropriate interventions, including intravenous feeding tubes, will be provided.
St. Joseph's Health Hospital registered dietitians work closely with doctors, case managers, pharmacists and other clinicians to provide comprehensive nutrition care that meets each patient's unique needs.
