7th Year in a Row: St. Joseph’s Named “Most Wired” Hospital
July 21, 2016SYRACUSE, NY (July 21, 2016) — St. Joseph’s Health is pleased to announce that St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center has been named a 2016 Most Wired hospital for the seventh year in a row, according to the 2016 Most Wired Survey released this month by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum (www.hhnmostwired.com).
The survey of 680 participants, representing more than 2,100 hospitals, is a leading industry barometer measuring information technology use and adoption among hospitals nationwide.
According to the survey, Most Wired hospitals are utilizing population health management tools and partnering with other health care providers to share critical clinical information used in analyzing interventions aimed at key patient groups, such as those with diabetes. To get patients the right care, hospitals are using predictive modeling to eliminate preventable problems.
“The SJ Linked electronic health record connects everyone throughout the St. Joseph’s Health system of care, from our primary care centers to our ambulatory surgery centers, and other services provided in the community. This connectivity has resulted in improved coordination of patient care and patient engagement,” said Chuck Fennell, vice president for information services and chief information officer at St. Joseph’s. “In fact, this type of connectivity has proven so successful that we have also implemented connected technology in other areas, such as installing wireless EKG transmitters in ambulance rigs so that EMS personnel can transmit data to St. Joseph’s Emergency Department and Cardiac team from the road, helping to reduce time-to-treatment, improving patients care, and improving efficiency.”
The versatility of mobile technologies makes it possible for clinicians and care team members to have the right tools for sound clinical decision-making wherever they are.
HealthCare’s Most Wired™ Survey, conducted between Jan. 15 and March 15, 2016, is published annually by Health & Hospitals Network. Detailed results of the survey and study can be found in the July issue of H&HN. For a full list of winners visit www.hhnmag.com.
