Local Nurse Who Received National Attention Returns to Syracuse
May 11, 2016SYRACUSE, N.Y. (May 11, 2016) – The keynote speaker at St. Joseph’s College of Nursing graduation ceremony will be former graduate Kateri Allard. Her name may sound familiar, as she was recently published by the Huffington Post. The article was originally written for Kateri’s personal blog, AccordingToKateri.com, which she has been writing since 2012 as a way to explain and advocate the role of nurses, and to share her thoughts and experiences with her own health and in nursing.
Kateri is an RN in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at a large teaching hospital in Manhattan. She received her Associate’s degree in Nursing from St. Joseph’s College of Nursing in 2008, and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Le Moyne College in 2009.
The graduating class from St. Joseph’s College of Nursing that she will be addressing this weekend includes 75 nurses, and more than 75% are also enrolled in the dual program with Lemoyne College.
Nurses who graduate from St. Joseph’s College of Nursing are noted for exceptional skill, as they consistently deliver high marks on their exams. Graduates of St. Joseph's College of Nursing who sit for the National Council Licensure Examination have consistently scored above the 90th percentile, which far exceeds both national and state scores (2015 national average was 84.5%).
While she is in town for the College of Nursing graduation ceremony, Kateri will also be making stops around Syracuse to participate in interviews and photo opportunities:
