St. Joseph’s Health Cardiovascular Institute Welcomes Dr. Dana Aiello

SYRACUSE, N.Y.— St. Joseph’s Health Physicians is pleased to announce Dana C. Aiello, MD, MSc, FACC has joined the hospital’s cardiovascular intensive care team, part of the St. Joseph’s Health Cardiovascular Institute. A board-certified physician, Dr. Aiello completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship and internal medicine residency in Louisiana before moving to Central New York.
In his new role, Dr. Aiello will oversee the care of critically ill cardiovascular patients with a high degree of acuity. Part of an integrated team, he will provide a high level of patient care coordination to contribute to an increase in patient satisfaction, reduced hospital lengths of stay and reduces the possibility of the patient being readmitted.

Prior to joining St. Joseph’s Health, Dr. Aiello served as the director of the critical care unit for Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse. A passion for teaching and mentoring future physicians, Dr. Aiello is an assistant professor of medicine, division of cardiology at Upstate University Hospital.
Dr. Aiello earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, PA. He then earned his medical degree and Master of Science degree from Saba University School of Medicine, Saba, Netherlands-Antilles. Following an Internal Medicine internship and residency at Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center in Houma, LA, he went on to complete a cardiovascular disease fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans, LA.
Dr. Aiello is a fellow in the American College of Cardiology, a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and member of the Educational Counsel for Foreign Medical Graduates.
Dr. Aiello will exclusively be seeing patients admitted to St. Joseph’s Health Hospital.
