St. Joseph’s Health Welcomes Board-Certified Pulmonary and Critical Care Specialist
October 18, 2022SYRACUSE, N.Y.— St. Joseph’s Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Subrat Khanal, MBBS, to St. Joseph’s Health Hospital. In his role, Dr. Khanal will provide patients with high quality, personalized health care.
Prior to moving to the United States, Dr. Khanal worked as Medical Officer in Intensive Care Units and emergency rooms at several hospitals in Nepal. There, he provided medical care to Nepal’s ageing and progressively sicker population, often under high pressure situations.
"I see St. Joseph’s Health the ideal place to combine my love for medicine and my passion to help people and the community,” said Dr. Khanal. “This is and has been my dream job since I first started thinking about a career and I can't wait to get started."
Dr. Khanal holds his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from B.P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal. He completed his residency and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University. He is double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease.
A physician with a passion for helping others, Dr. Khanal volunteered in earthquake-devastated areas doing relief work such as first aid intervention, immunizing children, and transporting critically wounded victims. He also participated in humanitarian work through the Nepal Red Cross Society.
