Syracuse, NY (June 21, 2017) – St. Joseph’s Health has announced that Dr. Atul Maini has been appointed Medical Director of the new Heartburn Center. Maini is a Board Certified General Surgeon and a Fellow of American College of Surgeons. He has been a surgeon with St. Joseph’s Health for six years, and was selected as one of “America’s Top Surgeons” in 2009.



The Heartburn Center at St. Joseph’s Health is the first dedicated and comprehensive heartburn treatment center in the greater Syracuse region. The Heartburn Center is located at Specialty Services inside St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Dr. Maini brings with him extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery including thyroid, breast cancer, and abdominal surgeries; as well as a proctor for training other surgeons in performing da Vinci Robotic surgery. He is a member of multiple professional societies including American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, and the Massachusetts Board of Medicine. He is also ACLS and ATLS certified.
