St. Joseph’s Health Welcomes New OB/GYNs to Primary Care Center–West and Maternal Child Health Center Locations

SYRACUSE – St. Joseph’s Health welcomes Kevin P. Cunningham, M.D. and Samuel Saleeb, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., as specialists in obstetrics and gynecology to St. Joseph’s Primary Care Center–West and the Maternal Child Health Center. “St. Joseph’s Health is committed to providing excellent and accessible healthcare to women on the North and Westside of Syracuse through our primary care centers,” said Dr. Sandra Sulik, chief medical officer and vice president medical affairs for St. Joseph’s Health. “The addition of doctors Cunningham and Saleeb will ensure high-quality obstetric and gynecologic care is available to those in need in those areas of the city.”

Kevin P. Cunningham, M.D.

Dr. Cunningham received his Doctor of Medicine from University at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1982 and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at SUNY Buffalo affiliated hospitals in 1986. Early in his career Cunningham was a Staff OB/GYN in the United States Army at Fort Campbell, where he was promoted to the rank of Major.

Following his military service he provided medical care to rural and underserved areas throughout New York State and in 1992 was a founding partner in a group practice in Corning, New York.

Dr. Cunningham has over 27 years of clinical experience in the field of obstetrics and gynecology including private practice, emergency and policy and protocol development within his specialty. Most recently he practiced at Wyoming Community Center in Wassau, New York, providing service and support for a hospital based practice.



Samuel Saleeb, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Saleeb is an internationally trained OB/GYN physician specializing in urogynecology and minimally invasive surgery. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Assiut Medical School in Egypt in 1981, followed by a postgraduate diploma from Zagazig University. He has completed a clinical preceptorship in the Urogynecology Department at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

A member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, he completed programs in obstetrics and gynecology and laparoscopic surgery at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. While in Dublin he completed both an OB/GYN residency at National Maternity Hospital and special training in Urogynecology.

Prior to joining St. Joseph’s, Dr. Saleeb was the medical director of Saleeb Gynecology and Urogynecology Center in Buffalo for 12 years. During this time he was also the medical director of the outpatient OB/GYN clinic at Kenmore Mercy Hospital and a clinical assistant professor at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine, Buffalo, New York. He holds certificates in clinical instruction and ethics in medical research.

He is a member of: the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), International Urogynecological Association, American Medical Association, Medical Society of the State of New York. He has been recognized as one of “the leading doctors of the world “and the top Urogynecologist in Buffalo in 2010 and 2011.

Doctors Cunningham and Saleeb practice at St. Joseph’s Primary Care Center – West and the Maternal Health Center located on the main hospital campus.
