SRC COE Seal

Syracuse, NY – St. Joseph’s Health recently achieved accreditation from SRC as a Center of Excellence in Hernia Surgery. This accreditation recognizes St. Joseph’s Health commitment to a high standard of delivering quality patient care and safety.

Status as an accredited Center of Excellence means that St. Joseph’s Health has met nationally and internationally recognized standards. Not all hospitals seek accreditation and not all who undertake the rigorous inspection process are granted it.

“Achieving accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Hernia Surgery reflects the dedication of our entire surgical team to providing patients with the safest, most effective care available,” said Dr. Travis P. Webb, Medical Director of the Hernia Center of Excellence at St. Joseph’s Health. “This recognition validates the clinical pathways, standardized practices, and patient-centered focus we have built to ensure every individual we care for has the best possible outcome.”

Healthcare facilities seeking an SRC accreditation undergo an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets SRC’s standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardized operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education, and continuous quality assessment. Inspectors also educate staff in the accredited departments on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.

“We’re proud to recognize St. Joseph’s Health for its commitment to advancing and providing quality care for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of SRC. “This accreditation signals that this facility is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”
