SYRACUSE, N.Y.— St. Joseph’s Health is pleased to welcome Amanda Nicholas back to St. Joseph’s Health as a nurse practitioner at St. Joseph’s Physicians Family Medicine in Liverpool.

Amanda has an extensive educational history. She first received an associate degree in general studies from Tompkins Cortland Community College and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in communication disorders and sciences from SUNY Cortland. Through an Accelerated Dual Degree Partnership in Nursing program at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, she received an Associate of Applied Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Six years later, she received her Family Nurse Practitioner Master of Science in Nursing from Upstate Medical University with an impressive 3.72 GPA.

Amanda was an RN at St. Joseph’s Health Hospital before embarking on a career as a travel and crisis response nurse, including hurricane and COVID relief.

“I was able to travel to Florida, Arizona, Washington, North Dakota, and other states, allowing me to meet people from across the country living in vastly different situations and states of health. It was both fascinating and humbling,” said Amanda. “It always felt great to help the people and other medical providers in their time of urgent and fluctuating need, but now it’s time for me to settle back down in a community setting with an amazing team of colleagues and patients and I already know I have that at St. Joseph’s Health.”

Amanda most recently worked as an RN in the Support Pool at Upstate Community Hospital where she would function as a charge nurse and orient new nurses. She has experience in a variety of areas, including medical-surgical, oncology, rehab, neurology, an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, and more.

Amanda will be marrying her fiancé, Nick, in September. They have two dogs, Max and Toby. Amanda enjoys hiking, spending time with family and recently started beekeeping.

Amanda is seeing patients at St. Joseph’s Family Medicine practice located at 5100 Taft Road, Suite 1D, Liverpool, NY 13088. To schedule an appointment, please call (315) 452-2828.
