Board-Certified OB/GYN Regina Farrell, MD, Joins St. Joseph’s Health Labor and Delivery Team

 

SYRACUSE, N.Y.— St. Joseph’s Health Hospital is pleased to welcome Regina Farrell, MD, FACOG, a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, to its highly skilled OB laborist team. Dr. Farrell brings extensive experience in women’s health and maternal care and joins St. Joseph’s Health’s dedicated team of providers committed to delivering exceptional care to mothers and babies.

 

Dr. Farrell is no stranger to St. Joseph’s Health having worked previously at St. Joseph’s Health PCC-West OB-GYN. She has more than a decade of experience working in both hospital-based facilities and outpatient OB/GYN clinics, most of them in Western and Central New York.

 

“I am excited for the opportunity to return to St. Joseph’s where I delivered my third child and had my first experience with labor and delivery as a medical student,” said Dr. Farrell. “I am inspired by the laborist model of OB/GYN practice where patients will be cared for by a dedicated team of providers who specialize in pregnancy and birthing with a focus on patient safety and provider well-being. Providers can fully concentrate on patients' needs in the hospital, and subsequently, providers in the office can be fully present for their patients during pregnancy and delivery.”

 

Dr. Farrell received her medical degree in obstetrics and gynecology from Upstate Medical University where she graduated in the top third of the class. She then traveled to Oklahoma City where she completed her OB/GYN residency at University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. She also holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University where she graduated cum laude.

 

Dr. Farrell has contributed to many publications and presentations focusing on topics such as epithelial ovarian cancer, chemo-radiation in cervix cancer, radical hysterectomies, and cervical adenocarcinoma in the elderly, to name a few. She is a proven leader, having held nearly twenty board and committee positions since undergraduate school.

 

Dr. Farrell is married with three children and enjoys supporting them in gymnastics, hockey, and lacrosse. “I am currently initiating them into the traditions of extended family with Buffalo football and hockey games,” she said. She also enjoys reading all types of literature, spending time outdoors, and traveling both locally and beyond.
