St. Joseph’s Health Welcomes Ronald Russo Jr., MD, Interventional Cardiologist

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—  St. Joseph’s Health is pleased to welcome interventional cardiologist, Ronald Russo Jr., MD, to its award-winning cardiovascular team. The St. Joseph’s Health Cardiovascular Institute consistently delivers superior outcomes and surpasses national quality benchmarks. Dr. Russo has multiple board certifications in interventional cardiology, cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and internal medicine and is a strong addition to the team of nationally recognized cardiologists, surgeons, and staff.

Being from Syracuse, I look forward to giving back to my community,” said Dr. Russo. “I am excited to be joining a program focused on delivering high-quality patient-centered cardiovascular care whose goal is to provide evidence-based treatment options tailored to individual patients’ needs.” 

Dr. Russo received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, and went on to graduate medical school as the valedictorian at Medical University of the Americas, Charlestown, Nevis, West Indies. He completed an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Brown University in Providence RI, and a Cardiology Fellowship at SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Before joining St. Joseph’s Health, Dr. Russo held multiple clinical teaching positions, was a per diem hospitalist with Upstate Community Medical in Syracuse and, most recently, practiced interventional cardiology at Cardiology Associates of Schenectady in the Capital Region.
Outside of the office, Dr. Russo is avid sports fan and says being from Syracuse, “I bleed orange.” He also loves playing golf and enjoys the culinary arts. He will be joined in Syracuse by his wife and three children.
