U.S. News & World Report Ranks St. Joseph’s Health Hospital #1 in Syracuse Metro

This is the 11th consecutive year St. Joseph’s Health Hospital has received the Best Regional Hospital designation.

 

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – St. Joseph’s Health Hospital, has once again been named the top hospital in Syracuse Metro by U.S. News & World Report. The magazine ranked St. Joseph’s Health Hospital #1 in Syracuse Metro and #21 (tied) in New York state on its list of 2025-2026 Best Hospitals. 

This is the 11th consecutive year that St. Joseph’s Health Hospital has earned the Best Regional Hospital designation.

In addition, St. Joseph’s Health was also recognized as a High Performing hospital in 14 conditions/procedures – up from 12 the year before. This is the highest distinction a hospital can earn as part of U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.

  • Aortic Valve Surgery

  • Heart Bypass Surgery

  • Pacemaker Implantation

  • Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion)

  • Hip Fracture

  • Hip Replacement

  • Knee Replacement

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

  • Pneumonia

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions; only 13% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals designation.

To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care. 

U.S. News & World Report also ranked St. Joseph’s Health sister Trinity Health Ministry, St. Peter’s Hospital, the #1 hospital in Albany and High Performing in 19 conditions/procedures. It is ranked #14 in New York state.
