The Children and Youth Clinic provides behavioral health services to children, adolescents and their families up to the age of 18 years old. Children and youth are treated individually, in families, in groups, through collaborative services for parents and significant others. Medication services are also available.

The evaluation process for children and youth continues to be comprehensive in nature. In crisis situations an immediate evaluation is arranged and an appropriate response is made. Patients referred by psychiatric in-patient facilities, and by the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Service (CPEP) at St. Joseph’s Health Hospital are offered evaluation appointments within five working days.

Patients typically come to the attention of the team through telephone contact with the intake worker. The intake worker assigns a therapist who generally remains as the primary therapist throughout the course of treatment. Following evaluation, a treatment plan is formulated and implemented. Psychological testing and psychiatric consultation and evaluation may be requested as needed.

Treatment modalities include individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, play therapy and medication therapy.

For Intake appointments please call: 703-2800 and follow the phone tree options for new patients.
